Mrs. Sarah J. Muthard, 81, of 315 Lehigh Avenue, Palmerton, died Monday in her home. She was the wife of Wilbur Muthard.
She operated Betty's Tavern at her home for the last 12 years. She previously was a sewing maching operator for Scotty's Fashions, Palmerton, for 20 years before retiring in 1969.
Born in Hickory Run, Carbon County, she was a daughter of the late William H. and Amanda (Zacharias) Bartholomew.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a foster son, Arlington Searfoss of Emerald, and a brother, Harry of Aquashicola.
The Thomas K. Thomas Funeral Home, 145 Delaware Avenue, Palmerton, is in charge of the arrangements.
