Mr. Soloman Joshua "Slim" Collum, 82, of Port Arthur, died Monday, April 7, 2003 at Park Place Medical Center. He was a native of Drews, Mississippi and had lived in Port Arthur since 1946. He was a retired Repairman from Southwestern Bell with 37 years of service. Mr. Collum was a member of Twin City Church of God, American Legion Post #7 of Port Arthur, and the Telephone Pioneers of America.He served in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Collum is survived by his wife, Rosie Lee Irby Collum of Port Arthur; daughters, Violet Bonita Jasper and husband John of Schertz, Texas; Sonda Joshene Watts and husband Tommy of Spring, Texas; sister, Mary Frances Bowen Hubbard of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho; brother, Donald Collum of Osceola, Arkansas, and three grandchildren, Jeffrey Watts and Carolyn Watts of Spring, Texas; and Jennifer Jasper of Schertz, Texas. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lloyd, Cliff, Henry, and Billy Collum and Sam Jenkins. Also his sisters Thelma Aardweg, Zona Salenfriend, Gaynell Smith and Shirley Avant. Funeral services for Mr. Collum will be held 10:00 A.M. Thursday, April 10, 2003 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Reverend Lewis Moore of Twin City Church of God Officiating.
Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Bridge City, Texas. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. Wednesday at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves.
Pallbearers will be Bub Scott, Carey Roberts, Daniel Roberts, David Roberts, Paul Coggins and Nathan Bound. Levingston Funeral Home 5601 39th St. Groves,
