Walter Maxey, son of Edward and Susannah, the last surviving child, left a will which a copy and other records related to the probate of his estate, are still on file at Rocky Mount Courthouse. Mae A. Maxey indicated in a letter that the grave of Walter Maxey, Sr. who died 1791 and his 'near kin' were located on the old Maxey plantation. Their remains were removed and reinterred on a plot at Mt. Ivy Baptist Church, many having no headstone. Facing the headstone of William H. Maxey, about five degrees to the left, the back corner of the cemetery is the plot in which the plantation graves were reinterred.
