Terrance O'Connell passed peacefully into eternal life on April 11, 2006. Terrance was born in the Bronx on August 16, 1936 to Kathleen (Kelly) and John O'Connell. He is survived by his loving wife Kathleen (Sullivan) O'Connell and his devoted children: Terrance James O'Connell and Jennifer O'Connell. He is also survived by his sister Kathleen O'Connell and his brother Richard O'Connell. His sister Jacqueline Murphy Cumiskey died before him. Terrance was a graduate of John Jay College of Criminal Justice and Brooklyn Law School. He retired in 1990 from the NYC Department of Corrections as an Assistant Deputy Warden after close to 21 years with the Department. He then practiced Law in New York and New Jersey and was admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court. He also served honorably in the U.S. Army. Terrance was past President of the NYC Correction Assistant Deputy Wardens' Association, past Corresponding Secretary of the NYC Correction Retiree's Benevolent Association, a member of the NYC Correction Emerald Society and the Rockland County Bar Association. He was also a member of the Rockland County Shields, the McCloskey Council of the Knights of Columbus and a longtime member of I.A.T.S.E. Local F72, the Ball Park Ticket Sellers Union. He will be dearly missed. Calling hours at the Higgins Funeral Home, New City, on Saturday, April 15 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and Sunday, April 16 from 5 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Augustine's Church, Main St., New City at 10 am on Monday, April 17, followed by Burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, NY. MICHAEL J.
