Moved to Texas in the 1840. North Texas merchant with stores in Dallas, Bonham, Sherman.
Lived in all three towns at various times.

Married To: Sophia King, Josephine B. King.

COLONEL 34th Texas Cavalry April 17, 1862.

Due to chronic illness.
He moved to San Antonio and purchased vast quanties of cotton to ship to Mexico under contract with the state cotton board.

The war ended before Alexander, could reap the profits of this transaction.

DIED: July 23, 1865, New Orleans.

BURIED: Girod Saint Cemetery, New Orleans.

His nephew called him a businessman " of superior executive ability " but " addicted to intemperance. "

According to Sidney Jackman, Alexander admitted he " had no courage, and was utterly unfit for an officer."
