Wilma was 89 when she passed away peacefully on Monday at the Mineral Point Care Center. Born to John & Marion (Jackson) Adams. She graduated from Mineral Point High School, in 1937, and attended Platteville Normal Teachers College, graduating with her teaching degree.
Wilma married Robert S. Baker, on November 20, 1943, at the First United Methodist Church, in Mineral Point.
She taught at several schools, Endeavor, South Beloit, Diamond Grove Country School, Fort Defiance, and, finally, at the Mineral Point Elementary School, teaching first grade, until she retired. After retirement, she enjoyed her time with the Souper Quilters.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school, for many years, and also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Wilma leaves behind a daughter, a son, a granddaughter, a grandson, four sisters, two brothers-in-law, and several nieces; nephews; relatives; and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a special aunt, Vera Jackson; her husband, Robert on November 17, 2002; two sisters, Vera Bratton and Bobbie Buss; brothers-in-law, Clarence Flesch, Donald McCluskey, Jerry Dott, and Wayne Owens.
Funeral services were held on Thursday at the First United Methodist Church in Mineral Point. Pastor Mary Anne Conklin officiated.
