Valjean Edinger, 81 of Gee Lick Road, Weston, passed away Tuesday, Ocober 20, 2009 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born in Lewis County on June 3, 1928; daugther of the late Herman "Chick" Edinger and Ella Starkey Edinger. Valjean is survived by a sister Marlene Cosner of Clarksburg, a niece Mrs. Carolyn Forinash, a nephew, Frank Cosner, Jr.; two great-nieces, Marlana Hausvater and Machelle Lopez; 2 great-great-nephews; and one great-great niece. She is also survived by her close friend, Herb Harris. She was preceded in death by brother, George Herman Edinger and sister Leila Eileen Edinger; and one brother-in-law, Frank Cosner.
Valjean retired as Assistant Vice President of the United Bank of Weston with 59 years of service and had been there through three name changes; Weston National Bank, Heritage Bank and United Bank. She was a member of the Valley Chapel United Methodist Church and attended the Gee Lick United Methodist Church. Valjean graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College and West Virginia Business College. She was active with the All Star 4-H Club, WVU-Lewis County Extension and was a member of the Rebekah Lodge of Lightburn.
Family and friends were received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home, Weston, on Thursday, October 22, from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services were held Friday at 2:00 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with Reverend Russell Furr and Reverend Kenny Kendall officiating. Internment followed in the Broad Run Cemetery of Jane Lew.
