Sharon was out riding her horse, which she did on a regular basis, when the horse got spooked. Sharon was thrown and died from the injuries sustained.

Mrs. Bruce (Sharon) Herring, 37, of Route 9, Waco, director for auxiliary services at Texas State Technical Institute, died Wednesday at a local hospital from injuries received when she was thrown from a horse Monday.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Monsignor Mark Deering as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in West.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday at Kotch Funeral Home Hillcrest Chapel.
Mrs. Herring was born Nov. 7, 1946, in Waco and was a lifelong Waco resident. She graduated from Reicher High School and had worked for TSTI for the past eight years. She also worked for the city of Waco Parks and Recreation Department for several years.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and SPJST Lodge No. 66 in Elm Mott. She was married to Bruce Herring in 1969.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Laura Michelle Herring of Waco; a stepdaughter, Sherri Harwell of Waco; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bennie C. Engelke of Waco; and a brother, John Engelke of Waco.
