BADGE 990
E.O.W.: 11/25/1963
Michael Bushman was appointed as a San Diego police officer on July 6, 1962.
On November 25, 1963, he was working the night shift and was scheduled to get off work at 4 a.m.
When he didn't return to headquarters by 4:30, a search was started. As officers retraced his steps that night, they realized the last time anyone had seen him was around 2 a.m. at a service station on Imperial Avenue.
Three hours after the search was launched, an officer located Patrolman Bushman's patrol car upside down in a gully off of Paradise Valley Road. His body was outside the vehicle. Apparently he had been ejected and had been dead for a period of time.
It was never determined what Bushman was doing at the time of the accident.
At the time of his death Patrolman Bushman was twenty-five years old and lived with his wife Martha Ann and his 2-year-old daughter Theresa.
