Carolyn, Steve & their two sons were killed in Chicago, Illinois in a plane crash on May 25, 1979 on their way to California. The crash claimed 273 lives. The boys were buried in Midland, Michigan on July 5, 1979. Carolyn & Steve were buried in a mass grave in California with the unidentified on July 6, 1979 in Greenhills Memorial Park, San Pedro, California. Memorial services were held in Chicago on May 29, 1979 and in Midland on May 31, 1979.
