WOODLAND - Dennis "Shade Tree" O'Barr, 56, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004, at his home in Woodland. He was the owner of O'Barr Trucking. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Cane Creek Hunting Club.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Houston Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick Lal and the Rev. Barry Lombard officiating. Burial will be in Chickasaw Memorial Gardens in Houston.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Williams O'Barr of Woodland; a daughter, Virginia Suzanne O'Barr King and her husband, the Rev. Eddie King, of Liberty; a son, William Dale O'Barr of Woodland; three sisters, Mildred Meadows of Brewton, Ala., Marie Wilts of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Melissa Fahland of Invergrove Heights, Minn.; five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Chester O'Barr and Inez Woodall O'Barr.
Pallbearers will be Larry Smith, Jimmy Smith, Bobby Naron, Hal Craig, Chris Smith, Jeremy Harrell and Mackey Weaver.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
