Dea. Darius Rice, b. 15 Oct. 1800, was a farmer and merchant and resided in Worthington, Mass., Brutus (now Sennett), Riga, and Auburn. N. Y., and finally in Holly, Mich., where he was elder and deacon in the Presbyterian Church and vicepresident of the Merchants National Bank, and d. 6 Apr. 1893.
He m. at Auburn, N. Y., 9 Sept. 1821, Anna Shield Phelps, b. in Brutus (now Sennett), N. Y., 26 Nov. 1800, daughter of Ebenezer and Submit (Higby) Phelps; she d. in Flint, Mich., 10 Feb. 1896.

Children:
1. Sumner Phelps, b. in Worthington, Mass., 27 Apr. 1823; removed in 1842 to Holly, Mich; d. 27 Mar. 1896.
2. Darius Hurlbut, b. in Sennett, N. Y., 4 Mar. 1825; m. 3 Feb. 1847, Mary Jane Hadley, b. in Galen, N. Y., daughter of John and Margery (Fenwick) Hadley, later of Groveland, Mich.
3. Martha Anne, b. in Riga, N. Y., 14 Nov. 1826; m. at Groveland, Mich., 3 Feb. 1847, Thomas Hadley, b. in Northumberland County, England, 12 Mar. 1815, son of John and Margery (Fenwick) Hadley.
4. Lorenzo Rice, b. in Riga, N. Y., 25 Feb. 1829; d. in Nov. 1860.
5. Oren, b. in Sennett, N. Y., 24 July 1833, when a lad went with his parents to Michigan where he was a merchant in various places in Oakland County, and d. in Flint, Mich. in 1897. He m. 6 Oct. 1855, Susan C. Thompson. Two children.
