Mario Alonzo, age 66, died November 19, 2009 with his family by his side. He was born in Mathis, Texas on December 19, 1942 to the late Felipe and Amanda R. Alonzo.
He was self-employed and had established his business (Mario's Business/Tax Service) for over 36 years in Mathis. He also served as Mayor for the city of Mathis.
He is survived by his wife Lilly F. Alonzo; three sons Mario(Erin) Alonzo, III, Joe (Anna) Alonzo, Michael (Alice) Alonzo; two daughters Lilly M. Alonzo and Mary Jo Alonzo; one brother Jose F. Alonzo; three sisters Rebecca (Raymond) Avalos, Josephine Alonzo and Linda Arriaga; sister in law,Julie Guerra; grandchildren Tiffany, Timothy, Nicole, Ashley, Angela, Joe, Jr., Miranda, Alyssa, Marissa, Michael, Jr.and Klarisa Alonzo; Amanda and Marcus Navarro, Rene and Mark Zamora; and all the Alonzo and Rodriguez families in Houston, Sugarland, Austin and Lubbock.
Visitation will begin on Saturday November 21 at 3:00 pm at Dobie Funeral Home Chapel with a rosary at 7:00pm. Graveside services will be on Sunday, November 22 at 2:00pm at the Descanso Eterno #1 Cemetery in Mathis, Texas.
