Bert was born July 14, 1931, in Bridgewater, Maine. He was the son of the late Frederick and Velva (Cox) O'Neal, and had been a resident of Thomaston for the past 50 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft of Southington.
Bert was a member of the First Congregational Church of Thomaston. He enjoyed spending his summers in Maine with his family and friends.
Besides his wife, he leaves his son, Charles A. O'Neal and his wife, Marian, of Bristol; his daughters, Marjorie Wilson and her husband, James, of Thomaston, and Rena Saucier of Thomaston; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren,; several nieces and nephews, and many loving friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Alvin, and his sister, Betty.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at First Congregational Church of Thomaston. Burial with military honors will be in Hillside Cemetery, Thomaston. Friends may call today at the Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St., Terryville, from 6 to 8 p.m.
