Guy Riggan Pickle, 96, died June 1, 2006, at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center in Amory. He was born Dec. 28, 1909, in Amory to the late E.E. Pickle and Laura Riggan Pickle. He was a lifelong resident of Amory, where he was a graduate of Amory High School, Class of 1928. He married Mary Evelyn Jones in 1934, who predeceased him in 1994. He owned and operated E.E. Pickle Funeral Home of Amory and Smithville and was the founder of the Mississippi Funeral Association, where he served as secretary. He was a member of the Mississippi Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association. He was a member of the J.A. Mayfield Lodge 165 for over 75 years, a member of the Hamasa Shrine of Meridian for over 65 years, where he was the oldest Shriner in the state of Mississippi. He was the last living charter member of the Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris Fellow with the Rotary International. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Amory, and was an honorary lifelong member of the Administrative Board.

Services were June 4 at the First United Methodist Church in Amory with burial in the Masonic Cemetery in Amory. E.E. Pickle Funeral Home of Amory was in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his son, G. Warren Pickle and his wife, Tonya, of Amory; his daughters, Julie Randle and her husband, Pete, of Amory and Marilyn P. Reed of Amory; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Evelyn Pickle; and a brother, Charles "Chicken" Pickle.

Pallbearers will be David Randle, Robert Pickle, Brian Reed, David Henderson, David Millender, Mike Edgeworth, John Mark Henderson, Matthew Randle and Michael Randle. Honorary pallbearers will be Dick Millender, Boonie Stockton, Don Baker, Billy Nesbit, Gene Wright and fellow funeral directors.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 147, Amory, MS 38821.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and will continue on Sunday until 1:30 p.m.
