Mary Ann Bancroft, 58, of 7 Silvermine Drive, South Salem, NY, died Monday at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx after a brief illness. She was the wife of William N. Bancroft. Mrs. Bancroft was born in Bronxville on April 27, 1941, a daughter of the late Harold V. and Anne Rooney King. She was a 1959 graduate of Scarsdale High Schooland attended the Vermont College. A longtime employee with New Canaan Bank and Trust, Mrs. Bancroft was a bank manager at the time of her death. She was previously associated with the Bank of Darien. A 22 year resident of South Salem, Mrs. Bancroft was previously of White Plains. She was a member of St. Mary's Church in Ridgefield. Besides her husband, survivors include one son: Gregory A. Bancroft of Johnson City, TN, one daughter, Jennifer A. Bancroft of NYC, one brother, Harold V. King of Huntington Beach, CA. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10am at St. Maryës Church, Riegefield. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla. Friends will be received on Thursday from 4-8pm at the Kane Funeral Home, 41 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield, CT. Contributions in Mrs. Bancroft's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or to St. Maryës Church Building Fund, 183 High Ridge Avenue, Ridgefield, CT 06877.
