Mrs. Stewart Dies at Houlka
Services were conducted Saturday afternoon at 2:30 from the Baptist church in Houlka for Mrs. Caroline Barnes Stewart, 80, widow of the late S S Stewart. Mrs. Stewart succumbed Thursday night following a lingering illness of three years.
The Rev. S P Andrews officiated, assisted by the Rev. T E Gregory.
Young's quartet of Pontotoc, with Miss Mary Vance, pianist, was in charge of the music.
Mrs. Stewart was wed to S S Stewart, a prominent Houlka merchant for many years, and to that union was born one daughter, Abbie. Other survivors are a son, Hershel Stewart of New Orleans, and a daughter, Mrs. Loyce Roy of Burbank, Calif. She also leaves a niece, Mrs. J B Kloeppel of Norfolk, Va., by a former marriage. A number of nieces and nephews and other relatives also survive.
Interment was in the family cemetery, four miles west of Houlka, with Houston Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
