Albert Thomas Brocaglia, 86, of Madison died at Morristown Memorial Hospital on Oct. 14, 2008. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Vincent Martyr Church, Green Village Road, Madison, on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008, at 9:30 am. An interment will follow at St. Vincent's Cemetery. Born in Paterson, Mr. Brocaglia grew up in Clifton and lived in Madison since 1956. A graduate of Clifton High School, Mr. Brocaglia received an associate's degree from NYU. He then went to work in the Passaic County Courts as a court reporter. Highly regarded as a stenographer, he also taught court reporting at several area business schools. He went on to receive his bachelor's degree from Rider College and his master's in education from Montclair State College. Mr. Brocaglia served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1946. In 1988, after 30 years, he retired from Roxbury High School as head of the Business Education Department and a teacher of business education. After retiring, he continued teaching part-time and substitute teaching until the age of 81. Mr. Brocaglia was a member of St. Vincent Martyr Parish in Madison. He was an avid reader and loved ballroom and jitterbug dancing. He was the beloved husband for 52 years of Mary C. (nee DeSantis) Brocaglia; loving father of Thomas Brocaglia and his wife, Sheri, of Anderson, S.C., Pamela Jean Jamison and her husband, Mike, of Newbury, Mass., Susan Brocaglia of Madison and Richard Robert Brocaglia of Madison; devoted grandfather of Douglas Thomas Standley, Nicholas Brocaglia, Anne Marie Brocaglia, Marisa Louise Standley and Michael Anthony Brocaglia, and dear brother of Fran Aboyan, Anne Brocaglia and John Brocaglia.
