Elaine Girard Quarles was born April 13, 1955, in Dalhart, Texas to Lloyd Girard and Rose Mary (Kimber) Girard. Elaine was more than a cherished mother, loving wife, and devoted daughter. She was a writer, an artist, a designer, and an adept business leader. Anything Elaine put her mind to, she could accomplish. Returning to college later in life, Elaine graduated Summa Cum Laude from West Texas A&M University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She took her mother's adage of "a busy girl is a happy girl" to heart and was constantly doing, exploring, and creating. She was a published newspaper writer with a voracious appetite for learning and research. She loved to oil paint and meticulously created beautiful works of art. Elaine had the heart of an adventurer and was well-traveled always going off the beaten path. She passed November 21st at the family home in Logan, New Mexico and will be sorely missed.
She was preceded in death by her father Lloyd Girard on June 14, 2008.
Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Ed Quarles; mother, Rose Mary Girard of Nara Visa, New Mexico; daughter, Dalice Quarles of Dallas, Texas; son, Aaron Quarles and his wife, Sarah of McKinney, Texas; grandson, Ty Quarles of McKinney, Texas; brother, David Girard and his wife, Lois of Nara Visa, New Mexico; sisters, Tera Girard of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Donna Miller and her husband, Larry of San Diego, California, and many loving nieces and nephews.
