Della Knaggs was a beautiful girl, with a delicate, almost ethereal look. Arthur Ray had been her school teacher at a time when young men and woman began teaching at age 16 or 17-If they could pass the rigid examination; which Arthur did. Della's health was always delicate, culminating in TB as she grew older and also was confined to a wheelchair with arthritis for several years before her death. She and Arthur had 2 children Della Iris "Babe" Ray born 10/20/1886 who married Elmer Tuttle and Phil Roland Ray born 11/30/1888.
