James S. Cornell, 57, of Orrtanna, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, at Hamot Hospital, Erie, following a short illness related to heart complications. He was born Nov. 4, 1946, in Blairsville, the son of Sloan and Clara Libengood Cornell of Marienville.
He was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Orrtanna. He was a manager and train engineer for the Gettysburg Railroad for 25 years. At the time of his death, he was engineer for Knox and Kane Railroad in Marienville, where he had been for eight years.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Blairsville and a former member of the Gettysburg Travel and Convention Bureau.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Julia E. "Beth" Kwisnek Cornell;

Also daughters Winifred Schulteis, Bigler-ville, Erann Bear, Gettysburg; Jamie, Orr-tanna and Laura Marshall, Biglerville; sisters: Rebecca Overly, Robinson; Marilyn Hafer, Blairsville; Teri West, Russell; Patricia Kaas, Gardners; and Barbara Smith, Lewis Center, Ohio.

Also surviving are four grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Orrtanna, by Fr. Carl Steffan. Interment was in St. Ignatius Cemetery, Orrtanna.
