Julian Brite Hays, 91, of Bowling Green, died at 11 p.m. Nov. 26, 2009, at the Hospice Center.
The Warren County native was born Feb. 6, 1918. He was a graduate of College High School in 1935, of Western Kentucky State Teachers College in 1939, and the Nashville Auto-Diesel College in 1971. He was an aviation cadet in the Navy and a veteran of the World War II, serving as a staff sergeant with the 503rd Fighter Squadron of the 8th U.S. Army Air Force. He was a poultry farmer near Woodburn and in Portland, Tenn., and also owned and operated Portland Feed Mill and Hays Garage. In retirement, he worked locally as a security guard. He was a member of the Men's I Sunday School class of Living Hope Baptist Church. He was a son of the late Lucian Motley Hays and Hallie Brite Hays and husband of the late Lillian Florence Taylor Hays. He was preceded in death by a brother, Franklin P. Hays, of Louisville.
Funeral is at 2 p.m. Sunday at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home, with graveside service at 10 a.m. Monday at Fairview Cemetery No. 1. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
