Wanda Mae was born in Oklahoma, but raised in Texas, and always considered herself a Texan. She was named after her mothers best friend, Wanda Guderian, and her fathers sister, Eva Mae Bassett.
My Mom loved to read, and read every book in the children's section of the library in Cordell, OK. in the summer of 1934. Some of her best memories were of spending time with her parents and brother, Jean, on Sunday drives to Galveston, listening to favorite radio programs, and as a teen, dancing with her brother at the Morgans Point family dances. As a young woman she worked in downtown Houston at the Lowes and Metropolitan Theaters. While working at the theaters she learned bookkeeping skills and used those skills the rest of her working life.
They say three times the charm, and on March 20, 1953 she married George "Jack" Miles in Houston, they were married 47 years.
After retireing to Allen, OK. in 1983 Mom became very active in her county (Pontotoc) Extention Homemakers Association, and served as the State Secertary for five years. Counted cross stitch & oil painting became her favorite hobbies, she was very good at both. Mom loved all her family and many friends. Some of her favorite things were lighthouses, yellow roses, coca~cola, & the beauty of the desert.
Another favorite of hers...This is the day the Lord hath made, let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24
She is greatly missed by all who love her~
