SUGAR LAND -- Bessie Maude Swan, 81, of Sugar Land, died Tuesday in a Weimar hospital.

She was born May 20, 1903, in Weimar to Rufus and Mary Martin [should be Morton] Glaze. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Sugar Land.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wheeler Funeral Home Chapel, El Campo, with the Rev. Jerry Guthrie officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery, El Campo.

Surviving are a son, Leonard Swan of Houston; two sisters, Ila Thomas of Louise and Diana Martin of Port Arthur; a brother, Howard Glaze of Victoria; and a grandchild.

Pallbearers will be R.H. Roades, Gordon Roades, Hansford Glaze, Danny Glaze, Lamar Branscum and Brett Branscum.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ira Swan.
