Romona C. Meyers, 88, of Rockford, died at 6:57 a.m. Monday, Jul. 6, 2009, in P.A. Peterson Center for Health. Born Mar. 12, 1921, in Rockford, the daughter of Raymond and Viola (Hawn) Rafferty.
Romona married LaVerne L. Meyers on Sep. 16, 1939, in Dubuque, Iowa.
Formerly employed by Woolworth. Retired from Barber Coleman Company. Member of Grace Lutheran Church, and Charter member of Concordia Lutheran Church.
Survivors include sons, Jim (Debbie) Meyers of Rock Falls, Ronald (Karen) Meyers of Archdale, N.C., Raymond Meyers of Boulder, Colo., and Frederick (Patti) Meyers of Andover, Minn.; daughters, Judy Petit of Loves Park, Kathy (Bob) Bergeron of Machesney Park, and Barbara Meyers; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and sister, Pat Phillips of Joliet.
Predeceased by son, LaVerne Jr.; and two sisters.
Services were held Thursday, Jul. 9, in Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Gary Park officiating.
