Another member has submitted a correction to the date of birth on Merrick's headstone (Sep 10, 1812). The suggested correction was Sept 10, 1817. I have not been able to find documentation to support the 1817 date of death, so for now, I am leaving it as it is shown on his headstone. Here's the information I have:
1850 Census shows his birth as 1812. The 1860 Census shows his birth as "abt 1820". The 1870 Census shows his birth as "abt 1815". The 1880 Census shows his birth as "abt 1813". Their marriage record does not show their ages, however, it is worth noting that his mother would have only been 13 years old when he was born if the 1812 date on his headstone is correct. I have added a closeup picture of the dates on his headstone. Another note: In researching this family I found ancestors who spelled their names "Harrington" and others who spelled it "Herrington" so I have included both spellings in his name.
