MOULTON -- Funeral for Vernon Cross, 61, of Moulton will be today at 2 p.m. with Calvin Jones officiating. Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens.
Mr. Cross died Friday, April 19, 2002, at Helen Keller Hospital. He was born June 24, 1940, in Lawrence County. He was a retired police officer from Courtland Police Department who also worked with the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department and Town Creek Police Department.
The son of the late Percy Cross, he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Cross; two sons, Jon Cross and Tim Cross, both of Moulton; two daughters, Michele Cross of Tuscaloosa and Becky Looney of Trinity; his mother, Omie Terry Cross of Courtland; one brother, Harold Cross of Courtland; one sister, Ann Wilson of Courtland; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Stacy Wilson, Brian Wilson, Daniel Wilson, David Cross, Dana Yarbrough, Ronald Terry, Grady Rose and Harold Bradford.
Members of the Fraternal Order of Police will serve as honorary pallbearers.
