(Veteran) Co I 47th Ill Inf

Published in the Blair Courier, 2/7/1894

DIED - - Mr. E.S. Abbott, who formerly conducted a feed barn on lower Main street, died at 11 o’clock yesterday, of cancer of the stomach, with which he has been for several months a sufferer. The funeral will take place from the residence on 2nd street, between C and D, at 12:50 today, the remains to be taken to Arlington. Deceased was a member of the G.A.R., and that order will participate in the funeral service. Fremont Herald

We understand that the remains of Comrade Abbott were accompanied by members of the McPherson Post to Arlington where his remains were enterred on Saturday, Rev. Brown, of Fremont officiating. He had only resided in Fremont a few months prior to which time he was for many years a resident of Arlington, this county. The Times in speaking of him says that his funeral was largely attended by his many friends of that city.
