OBITUARY

Mary Anna Witcraft was born in Mendota, Ill., April 21st 1862, and removed to this county with her parents, 1873. Four years later she became the wife of Wm. Ackley, who is left to mourn her loss. Four children were born to this union, two of whom survive the mother, Medames Jno. Goodreau, and Jno. Webber of Denver. Mrs. Ackley had been a long sufferer of consumption and last September the family went to the Southwest in hopes that she might be benefited by a change of climate. The Master's call came to her at Las Vegas, N. M. on March 19th, 1906 at 2 o'clock. The body was brought to her old home for burial, and the funeral services were conducted by Rev. Walker and the W. R. C., at the Christian church. Mrs. Ackley had been a member of both the Christian church and the W. R. C.

The following notes are from the correspondent of the society.

It was with deep sorrow that we laid to rest our sister and friend Mrs. Anna Ackley. Mrs. Ackley was elected Corps president last year, but on account of failing health was not able to attend the duties of the office very long. She was devoted to the work of the W. R. C. was a consistent member of the Christian church and will be greatly missed in all circles. Mr. Ackley and one daughter, Mrs. Webber arrived with the remains on Friday morning. The funeral was held at the Christian church on Sunday at eleven o'clock. After the sermon the W. R. C. conducted the Ritualistic burial service of the order. The church was beautifuly decorated with potted plants and the casket was covered with hot house flowers. Despite the stormy weather the church was crowded with friends who came to pay the last tribute of respect to one who had spent the greater part of her life in their midst. The husband and family have the sympathy of the community in
their great sorrow.
