In a Family History written in December, 1931, Mary Lenore Flower wrote: "The above stories have always made the family life at Rose Hill so human to me and the deep love of its household so vivid that I have passed them on because if ancestors could be made human to us, they would be much more loveable. I always would like to be remembered as someone not so unreal, and perfect, but one who had very many human traits so that I might have some chance of being loved because of them. I feel this way too about my ancestors. Hence the stories, poorly as they serve as translations of personality."

An extensive biography for Mary Lenore Embick was published by the Cumberland County Historical Society in their magazine, "Cumberland County History", Winter 1993, Vol 10, No. 2, pp. 80-96.
