Lydia A Eaton was born to Isaac Monroe Eaton and Darcus N. Gregory, in Perry County, Illinois and moved with her family to Granbury, Hood, Texas about 1860.

She first married William D. Corley, a blacksmith, in 1870 in Hood County Texas, and they had one daughter, Nancy "Nannie" Elizabeth Corley (m. Franklin Pierce Ellis). William died in 1874 and left Lydia a widow, with a young daughter.

Fifteen years later, Lydia married Robert Patton Crockett, son of David "Davey" Crockett on July 23, 1889, shortly before his death.

Update for Lydia A. Eaton Crockett: Just received land deed information from June Sullivan that she found in Johnson County, Texas, Court House. Filed was a Warranty Deed, BK Vol. "L", page 289, Oct. 2, 1873, showing that Lydia was married to William D. S. Corley and not to Oliver, his brother. Her father Isaac Eaton deeded land to her and her husband named William D. S. Corley for "love and affection" and one dollar. (correction from Carol Pendelton)

--------

Mrs. Crockett, a sister of Mrs. William Sandlin, died at the Sandlin home on Wednesday, October 27, and was buried on Friday at the Mt. Olive cemetery. At the age of 16 she received Christ as her Savior and was baptized into the fellowship of the Baptist Chruch. After the death of her first husband, she married Col. Crockett, son of David Crockett of Alamo Fame.
