1884-April 18--His first sea voyage. His first sailing trip Hans Jahnsen had, was with the ship "Will Hunter". He sailed from Arendal 18 April 1884. It was the same ship his brother Jens Christian sailed with, and the same time. The two brothers sailed together to France, and returned to Arendal the 24 May 1884. That was probably the last time they ever saw each other again. On his next trip Jens Christian sailed on the "Noel," and ended up in Australia.
1884-Hans Jahnsen started on his next trip on 28 May 1884 (4 days rest most likely together with his brother Jens Christian). Hans sailed to the Baltic sea with the barque "Gladiator", and returned 29 Sept. 1884.
1885-His next trip was with the barque "Leda" from Arendal, and again to the Baltic sea. The trip started 22 April 1885 and did not return to Arendal before 10 October 1885. The ship must have sailed many other places before its return.

1886-Hans last trip was with the big sail ship "Alexandra" (the ship "Alexandra" a former fullrigged ship, rebuilt to a barque in 1885). This ship was twice as big as the barque "Noel" that brought Jens Christian to Australia. The barque "Alexandra" started 6 Sept. 1886 on its trip to America. In the "anntoasjonsrulle" it is written under Hans Jahnsen. "Left the ship illegal in Philadelpia 2 Dec. 1886.
[NOTE: Although the ship went to Philadelphia, we believe Hans left the ship in New York. My grandmother always said NY]
