Maude Alice Watson Prishmont, 85, loving mother and grandmother, died Sunday, July 12, at Brook Manor Nursing Home in Brookhaven. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, at Brookhaven Funeral Home on North Jackson Street. The funeral service will be held at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, July 15, at 11 a.m. with burial to follow at Friendship Baptist Church.
She was born to William Leon Watson and Katie Case Watson on July 12, 1924, in Lincoln County.
A devout Christian, she was a founding member of Central Baptist Church. She loved her church and was involved in a number of organizations there. She attended business college after graduating from Heuck's Retreat High School. She worked at Stahl-Urban for several years before living around the country as a military wife. She took advantage of the opportunities that her travels allowed and enjoyed learning about different cultures with her family.
She valued her family and friends above all. She will be greatly missed as she is remembered for her kind, gentle spirit and sweet smile.
After she reared her family, she returned home to Brookhaven where she lived out her life among her large extended family.
Maude Alice is survived by her children, Karan Prishmont Bailey and husband, Mark, of Birmingham, Ala., Regina Prishmont Hutchins, of Jackson, and Richard Prishmont and wife, Debra, of Columbus; her grandchildren, Allison and Katherine Bailey, William Hutchins, Kristy Davis and Scotty Davis and wife, Denise; she had one great-grandchild, Noah Davis.
