Frank, son of Francis & Rosa, was born March 4, 1840. He also like his son Lafayette is also famous in the Rochester area, but in a different way. He was one of the soldiers standing at the table when General Lee surrendered and witnessed the signing first hand. He was a private in the U.S. military. His occupation was a Cooper. He enlisted on August 5, 1863 in Rochester, NY. He served with Company E, 140th Regiment, New York Volunteers then was later transferred to Company E, 5th Vet. Infantry where he fought in the Civil War. He was a member of the E.G. Marshall Post and the G.A.R. (Grand Army of the Republic). Frank was discharged from the military on June 3, 1865. He married his 1st wife, Matilda, who was born in 1839 in Canada and the had a daughter, Louisa Akey who was born in 1860. Later he married Francis Williams who was the daughter of Richard and Sophie Williams. Cause of death was a cerebral hemorrhage with mitral regurgitation being another. Their children include Mame A. "Mary" Akey who married a world famous English poet Herbert Elwynn Muir, Florence Akey, Frank Akey, Richard Akey, Lafatette George Akey, Daniel Akey, Henry J. Akey, Charles Augustus Akey and Edward Richard Carolton Akey.
