Funeral Services were held in the Bertrand Methodist Church Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. for Mr. George Washington Dyer. Scripture and prayer were held at the home at 1:30. Rev. Charles I Coates preached on "I know that my redeemer liveth". Interment was in Highland Cemetery. George Dyer was born near Jacksonville, Illinois, January 6, 1872. He departed this life March 7, 1947 at his home in Bertrand, Nebraska at the age of 77 years, 2 months and 1 day.

He came to Nebraska as a young man and took up residence in York County. He married Martha Francis Smith February 22, 1892. They resided in the eastern part of the state for some years coming to Phelps County in 1907. To this union 8 children were born. His wife died April 9, 1916. On November 25, 1925 he was married to Eleanor Whitson who passed on January 6, 1937.

He is survived by 5 sons: Floyd of Highland Falls, New York; Bert of Gothenburg; Raymond of Bertrand; Howard of Overton, and Clifford of Hemingford, and 3 daughters: Mrs. Pearl Griffith of Bertrand, Mrs. Cassie Hartz of Gering; and Mrs. Wauneta Buss of De Witt, Nebraska. There are 25 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother Henry of Bertrand, 2 sisters-in-law, Mrs. Carrie Dyer of Bertrand and Mrs. Martha Dyer of Elwood, one cousin W.L. Dyer of Nebraska City and other relatives and friends.

Dyer of Hebron, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kahle of Kearny, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Dyer and family and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Dyer of Gothenburg; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Johnson of Bruning, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Miles of Comad, Mrs. Florence Challiner of Jacksonville, Illinois, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bellamy of Moorefield, and Mr. and Mrs. Marion Dyer of Lexington.
