Obituary:

Kirsten Elizabeth Wolcott, joined our family December 5, 1988. She finished her work on this Earth November 18, 2009 on the island of Yap, Micronesia, where she was volunteering as a student missionary for the Seventh-day Adventist Church. She taught second grade and loved her students and the island beauty. Kirsten attended Tappahannock Junior Academy through 10th grade. She finished her high school education at Richmond Academy, graduating with high honors. Kirsten desired to be an elementary school teacher and was pursuing a degree in elementary education. She attended Southern Adventist University and had completed two years of her major as well as taking lessons on her pedal harp. Kirsten loved children, music, camping, hiking, backpacking, running and water sports, especially wakeboarding. Kirsten is survived by her two brothers, Nathan and Scott Wolcott; and her father and mother, Hollis and Karen Wolcott of Laneview; her maternal grandparents, Dr. Niels and Mrs. Tove Oster of Dunnsville; her aunts and uncles, Jim and Julie Wolcott, Ann and Steve Irby, Ida Minter, Linda and Gunnar Lovhoiden, Peter and Kelli Oster, David and Judie Oster; and her cousins, Ben and Jon Wolcott, Kandy Lindsey, Erika and Danielle Bebout, Knut, Thomas and Benjamin Lovhoiden, Kamila, Zoe and Soren Oster, and Justin Oster. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, November 29, 2009 at the Tappahannock Seventh-day Adventist Church. In lieu of flowers which are so perishable, Hollis and Karen Wolcott suggest a donation in Kirsten's honor be made to Kirsten Wolcott Memorial Fund. This fund will be used for two purposes; to support Christian education which so profoundly influenced Kirsten's life; and to support student missionaries in whose ranks she so proudly served, Tappahannock SDA Church, P. O. Box 1106, Tappahannock, Va 22560. Arrangements by Marks-Bristow Funeral Home, Tappahannock.
