Husband of Jane "Jennie" MOORE (1809-1870)

Johann Georg "George" TROUT was born 25 Sep 1806 near Lovettsville, Loudoun, VA, the son of Casper TROUT (1762-1837) and Anna Maria AMENT (1767-1849). George was christened on 18 May 1807, New Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Lovettsville, Loudoun, VA.

In 1809, George (age 2) moved with his parents from Loudoun County, VA to near the headwaters of Fort Run, Rockingham County, VA. Later, in 1816, the family moved again, this time to that portion of Muskingum County, OH that would soon be set off to become Bearfield Twp, Perry OH. In 1818, the family moved a final time one or two miles to a farm just southeast of Deavertown, York Twp, Morgan, OH

George (21) married Jane "Jennie" MOORE (18) on 6 Dec 1827, daughter of local grist mill operator Henry MOORE. In 1833, George's younger brother, Johann Heinrich "Henry" TROUT (1810-1841), married Jane's younger sister Abigail MOORE.

At least 10 children were born to George and Jane, to include Henry J., 12 Jun 1828; an unknown daughter, circa 1829; Abigail, 19 Jul 1832; Jane F. "Jennie", 20 Jan 1835; Charlotte, Dec 1838; Solomon P., 28 Aug 1839; Harvey M., 1845; William H., 11 Jan 1848; Carolyn, 1851; and Hattie M. TROUT, 1858, all believed to have been born near Deavertown, York Twp, Morgan, OH.

Wife Jane MOORE (61) died 25 Jan 1870 in Deerfield Twp, Morgan, OH. In 1875, George sold the family farm in Deerfield Twp and moved in with his daughter, Jennie (1835-1913), and her second husband, Martin Van Buren LINDSEY, who were living in Circleville, Pickaway, OH. Sometime after 1880, George then went to live with his oldest son, Henry J. TROUT (1828-1919) in New Lexington, Pike Twp, Perry, OH.

George TROUT (84) died 18 May 1891 and was buried in Maplewood Cemetery, New Lexington, Pike Twp, Perry, OH. His son, Henry J. TROUT (1820-1919) was later buried very close by (see stone at right rear of photo).

>>NOTE: The math on George TROUT's tombstone is incorrect. His actual age at death was 84 years, 7 months, 23 days. His true birth and christening dates are clearly documented in New Jerusalem Lutheran Church records in Lovettsville, Loudoun, VA.
