Robert Bremner was born in Scotland in 1817, the son of Robert and Ann Bremner. He relocated to Chicago, Cook County, IL in 1847 and was employed as a Merchant Tailoring business until 1871, when he moved to a 280 acre dairy farm in Orland Township. Robert married Rachel Brooks in 1837. Rachel died in 1849, leaving two children, D. F. and Alice. Robert remarried in 1851 to Ann Conley, daughter of Patrick and Abigail Conley. They had five more children, Anna S., Helen, Mary, John and Robert. They were members of the Catholic Church.
