Mrs. Abel was born on October 30, 1920, in Little Rock, Ark., to the late Bert and Syvilla (Miller) Paulk. She had been a lifelong area resident. On March 14, 1939, in Terre Haute, IN, she married Paul W. Abel , who preceded her in death in March 1995. One granddaughter, Cheryl Bullard, two sisters, Wilma Lankford and Kathryn Forbes, and three brothers, Raymond Paulk, Reesie Paulk and Orville Miller, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Abel was self-employed as the owner/operator of Elnora's Beauty Shop in Lakeville for 30 years, retiring in 1991. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Lakeville Chapter #479.
Mrs. Abel is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Lana and Lyle Bullard of Lakeville; three grandchildren, Pamela K. (Allen) Tetzlaff of Walkerton, Douglas A. (Kristen) Bullard of Lakeville and Rev. Jeffrey J. (Dawn) Bullard of Winchester, IN; and nine great-grandchildren, Tharra, Christopher and Cassandra Tetzlaff, Mikayla, Jordan, MacKenzie, Alexandra, Kylie and Madelyn Bullard.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 10, 2005, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend. Rev. Jeffrey J. Bullard will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family two hours prior to services on Monday in the funeral home.
