Martha Imogene Gentry Bell has finished her race, has kept the faith, and is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Imogene passed away quietly at home on December 25, 2013, after a short illness. She was surrounded by her family and dear friends during her last days.

Imogene was born on May 16, 1928 to William Luther and Martha Ellen Gentry in Fairlie, Texas. After spending part of her childhood living on a farm, Imogene's family moved to Commerce, Texas where she completed high school at the age of 16. After graduating, Imogene worked in Dallas and then in Austin for a State Representative before meeting and falling in love with Travis Eugene Bell. They were married in 1947. After initially living in Commerce and then San Antonio, the couple made their home in Dallas, Texas where they raised their three children. Imogene worked for several companies as an administrative assistant until her retirement in 1989. Imogene has been a member of Central Church of the Nazarene since 1964 where she gave unselfishly of herself and taught her children to do the same. Imogene bravely and compassionately cared for her husband Travis during a prolonged illness until his passing in 2008 after 61 years of marriage. For the past three and half years, Imogene has made her home at the Chambrel assisted living center in Garland where she was loved by all.

Imogene is preceded in death by husband Travis, sister Verta, her mother Ellen, her father William and daughter-in-law Brenda. She is survived by her children: Roger Bell and wife Nelda, Martha Cly and husband Jackie, and Rob Bell. Grandchildren: Shanel Ferguson and husband Michael, Jordan Bell, Jeanna Martin and husband Brad, Kevin Cly and wife Haley, Ian Bell, Katherine Bell, and Elizabeth Bell. Great grandchildren: Tripp and Liam Ferguson, Audrey and Blake Martin, and Baby Cly due in May. Imogene is also survived by her older sister, Mozelle Hyatt plus a multitude of friends whose lives have been touched by her.

Imogene was a gentle, tender, patient woman who was also brave, independent, and strong. The impact and legacy of this gracious woman are immeasurable. Her family knows they have been blessed by God through her life. She will be missed beyond words.
