Born Raymond Claude Ferguson to George Washington Ferguson and Minnie Bell Adams. His parents died when he was young and was taken in by Silas Newton Sturman and Phoebe Alice Stonebrook.

Funeral services for Raymond "Si" Sturman, 60 years old formerly of Terre Haute, who died Sunday in Gary, Indiana will be held at 11 o'clock Friday morning at PJ Ryan & Sons Funeral Home. The Rev. Kimer Strain will officiate and burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Survivors are the wife Vondale, six daughters, a son Claude, and a brother Lilo Ferguson of Farmersburgh and 14 grandchildren. Resided for the last nine years in Gary. He was a steel worker and a veteran of both World Wars.
