J. Eugene Corriveau, 79, of Bellingham, MA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009, at home with his family by his side.
He was the beloved husband for 56 years of Pierrette M. (LeSieur) Corriveau.
Born in New York City March 27, 1930, he was the son of the late J. Cyprien and Corinne (Imhoff) Corriveau.
He was the loving father of Marc Corriveau and his wife, Gloria, of Taunton, MA, Ronald Corriveau and his wife, Carole, of Newport, RI, Robert Corriveau of Leesburg, VA, J.P. Corriveau and his wife, Lise, of Bellingham, MA, Gerard Corriveau and his wife, Marylou, of Blackstone, MA, Joseph Corriveau, Jr. and his wife, Ann Marie, of Bellingham, MA, and Jacqueline Doucette and her husband, John, of Macedon, NY. He also leaves his 20 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Eric Corriveau of Hopedale, MA, Robert Corriveau of Hudson, P.Q., Edgar Corriveau of Sept Iles, P.Q., Raymond Corriveau of Baie Trinite, P.Q., Omer Corriveau of Uxbridge, MA and Marie Blanche Corriveau of Long Island, NY.
A resident of Bellingham since 1953, formerly of New York and Bathurst, New Brunswick, Canada,
Mr. Corriveau was the Collector Treasurer for the town of Bellingham for 23 years until retiring in 1992. He was also served as Zoning Agent, Water Commissioner and member of the Planning Board and the Council on Aging at the Bellingham Senior Center.
A communicant of the former Assumption Church and St. Blaise Church and member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society of both parishes, he was a member of the Woonsocket Elks B.P.O.E. #850. He was a Corporator of Benjamin Franklin Bank. He was a Korean War Veteran serving in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve attaining the rank of Corporal with the Military Police Battalion. An avid sportsman he enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and golfing. Devoted to his family, he will be greatly missed by all.
Funeral will be held on Monday, Dedember 7, at 9:00AM from CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St.(Rte 126), Bellingham, MA with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM at St. Blaise Church, 1158 So. Main St., Bellingham.
Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland, RI.
Visiting hours are on Sunday, December 6 from 4 to 8PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of J.
