Joseph Brady Buchanan Jr., 83, of Latrobe and formerly of Indiana, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, at Young's Personal Care Home in Latrobe.

The son of Joseph and Mamie Haberstitch Buchanan, he was born Aug. 14, 1921, in Homer City.

He was a World War II veteran in the Army Air Corps.

He was a former coal miner and worked as a carpenter in the Indiana area, retiring as a finish carpenter.

He was a member of American Legion Post 141, Indiana and had been post and county commander.

He is survived by one son, Timothy L. and wife Marsha, Henderson, Nev.; two daughters, Pamela J. Criger, Virginia Beach, Va., and Deborah, Carson, Latrobe;

Also surviving are eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and two brothers, Glenn of Homer City and Thomas, Philadelphia.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Ed, Earl, Carl and Darrell; and one sister, Olive.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City with the Rev. Joseph Stains officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana.

A graveside military service will be conducted by the Indiana VFW Post 1989.
