She was a licensed practical nurse at the former St. Luke's Hospital in Davenport for 17 years retiring in 1973. Neola was a 50-year member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Davenport.

Survivors include one sister, Adeline Brenneman, Nichols, Iowa; two brothers, Elmer Rathjen, Austin, Minnesota, and Willard Rathjen, Alpena, Michigan; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters; Ella Reynolds, Marie Mills, and Wilma Anthony; and four brothers, Donald, Louis, Emil, and Paul Rathjen.
