Former Salt Lake City resident and Skyline High School Choir teacher, James (Jim) Franklin Miller, 71, passed away November 22 in Missoula, Montana, of complications from heart surgery. A celebration of Jim's life will take place at a future date.

He was born June 29, 1938 in Santa Cruz, California to Warren and Catherine Miller.

He attended BYU in Provo and Hawaii and then enlisted in the Army. After spending two years in Germany with his bride, Lois Hawley - whom he married in the Cardston, Alberta temple - Jim spent some time in Montana before returning to BYU where he received his BA in Music Education. He taught Choir and English at Skyline High School for many years then retired to Flathead Lake in Montana where he could be close to his family. A man of many friends, Jim will be deeply missed by so many who loved and respected him.

Survivors include his wife, Lois; daughters, Catherine (James) Finlayson, Shannon (Kurt) Garman - all of Conrad, MT; grandchildren, Clint (Alissa) of Seattle, WA, Shannalee, Alexander, Elli and Logan; brothers, Don (Jean) of Reno, NV, and Roy (Peggy) of Logan, UT and many lifelong friends.

Preceded in death by his parents and half siblings, Robert, Harold and Charlotte. Memorials may be made to Pondera Arts Council, P.O. Box 565, Conrad, MT 59425.
