Hilda J. Sell, 92, Amenia, ND, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2009, in MeritCare Hospital Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, ND.

Hilda (Johnson) Sell was born January 17, 1917, to Henning and Lulu Johnson in Leonard, ND, into a family of 14 children. She grew up in the Leonard, ND, area until her marriage to Harley F. Sell on March 18, 1936. The couple then made their home near Amenia, ND, where they farmed and raised two children. Hilda remained on the farm until her hospitalization last week.

Until the time of her death, she kept active on the farm, making her own bread and one of her greatest joys was taking care of her own lawn.

Hilda was preceded in death by her husband, Harley, who died in 1994, and her son, Leon, who died in 2008, as well as seven brothers and one sister.

She is survived by daughter, Donna (Sell) Schultz, Fargo, ND; sisters, Alma Klug, Fargo, Mary Lou Jensen, Colorado, and Joyce (Ben) Greenwaldt, Illinois; brothers, Leo (Janet) Johnson, Detroit Lakes, MN, and Art Johnson, Perham, MN; grandchildren, Laura Riley, Minneapolis, MN, Brenda (Steve) Pratt, Minneapolis, Kim Toll, Moorhead, MN, Marty Sell, Minneapolis and Mickey (Andrea) Sell, Moorhead; great grandchildren, Dylan Pratt, Minneapolis, Alex Toll, Taylor and Tory Sell, Moorhead and daughter-in-law, Judy Sell, Moorhead.

Visitation: Wednesday, December 2, from 5 to 7 in West Funeral Chapel, Casselton, ND.

Funeral Service: Thursday, December 3, 2009 at 10 in Martin's Lutheran Church, Casselton, ND.

Burial: Casselton Cemetery, Casselton, ND.
