FORT BRANCH, W.Va. — Mr. Roger Lee Chambers, 68, of Fort Branch, Logan County, was born May 5, 1941, at Fort Branch, a son of the late Leonard J. and Beatrice Lester Chambers. He departed this life Monday, December 7, 2009, at his residence.

Also preceding him in death was one brother, Herman Chambers, and one sister, Juanita Chambers.

Mr. Chambers was retired after 23 years in the U.S. Army, serving four tours in Vietnam, and a member of the American Legion at Logan and the DAV.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Lora Linville Chambers; three daughters, Darlene (Jack) Carroll of Clarksville, Tenn., Robbie Brewer of Pittsburg, Pa., and Shelia (Teddy) Lester of Hanover; one son, Roger (Diane) Chambers Jr. of Grundy, Va.; three sisters, Stella Hightower of Pecks Mill, Delores Vance of Chapmanville and Ruth Shanklin of Fort Branch; three brothers, John Franklin Chambers of Chapmanville, Jimmy Chambers of Cleveland, Ohio, and Larry "Smokey" Chambers of Stollings; nieces who were like daughters, Debbie Anderson of Hamlin and Teresa Copley of Chapmanville; a very special nephew, Donnie Vance of Chapmanville; four grandchildren, Greg Sizemore, Kevin Brewer, Nancy Brewer and Scotty Lester; seven step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and several additional nieces and nephews.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, December 11, at the Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services at Chapmanville with Rev. Roscoe Chafin officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill with Military Graveside Rites.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Vance, Kevin Brewer, Greg Sizemore, Brandon Chambers, Dale Chambers, Ralph Hightower, Josh Keyser, Paul Kolovich and Scotty Lester.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Shanklin, Don Vance, Hugh Hightower, Lionel Dunnigan, Ron Schultz, Teddy Copley, Tommy Lee and Hot Dog Bartley.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home
