Charles Rowan Willie Williams, 72, of Asheville, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2009, at Pisgah Manor Nursing Home.

A native of Doddridge County, W.Va., he had re sided in Asheville the past 51 years. He retired in 1997 following 41 years of service with the Asheville Fire Department where he was a Fire Marshall at the time of retirement. Mr. Williams was a member of Grace Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Marine Corp where he was stationed in Washington, D.C. at the Marine Corp Barracks serving in the Honor Guard.

Mr. Williams was the son of the late Charles Williams and Olive McKinney Williams and was also preceded in death by his brother, Randy Williams.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy Hartley Williams of the home; daughter, Jennifer Williams Jacobs and husband, Steve Jacobs, of Marietta, Ga.; son, Jason Williams of Asheville; grandchildren, Kristen Jacobs and Evan Jacobs; sisters, Esther Hyre of Milford, Ohio and Laura Sue Williams of Columbus, Ohio.

The graveside service will be held at Green Hills Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
