CHICKAMAUGA, GA — James Edward "Ed" Burkhart Sr., 63, departed this life Wednesday, December 9, 2009.
He was born in Chattanooga, TN to the late Charles and Pauline Burkhart, and was preceded in death by his sisters, Patricia Land, Glenda Tucker; and wife, Donna Faye Burkhart.
Ed retired from the U.S. Army as a Sgt. First Class after 40 years of service, and was a member of the American Legion Post 95.
Survivors include his children, Paula Jones, of Chattanooga, TN, James Burkhart, of Ringgold, GA, Zabrina Kidd, of Atlanta, GA, Zandra Kidd, of Chickamauga, GA, Rebecca Anderson, of Flintstone, GA, Samuel Burkhart, Summer Burkhart, Shawn Burkhart, all of Chickamaug, GA, Stevie Burkhart, of Atlanta, GA; brothers, Charles and Dewayne Burkhart; several grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, December 14, 2009 at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Family will receive friends after 4 p.m. today, and all day Friday.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
