When Walter became ill in the late 1930s, their daughter, Kate and her husband, Paul Coleman, and son Claude Coleman, came to live with her parents in order to help care for her father. After his death, Anna asked Kate and Paul to continue living with her. It was a happy household and Anna loved having her grandchildren, Claude and Coline with her.
